Jay Allen D.M.D., M.A.G.D
Dr. Jay Allen has provided the highest quality dental care to the New London area residents since 1982. Dr. Allen was born and raised in New York City, where he graduated from Regis High School. He earned his undergraduate degree at Fordham University and his dental degree at Farleigh Dickinson University. He preformed his postgraduate residency at St. Clare’s Hospital in New Jersey that allowed him to develop greater expertise in general dentistry. Annually attending continuing education courses enables Dr. Allen to stay at the forefront of his specialty so that he can provide optimal care to his patients. This allows him to offer his patients the finest cosmetic dental care. He regularly attends courses focusing on cosmetics, implants and new technology so that the most current treatment options are available to his patients.
Dr. Allen is also dedicated to serving the local community. He serves on the board of directors at
Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. He has also served on the board for the United Way,
the Community Foundation and both the Pine Point and Williams Schools.
Dr. Allen is a Master at the Academy of General Dentistry, which is the highest honor received from the Academy.
He is also a member of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and served as past president of the New London County
Dental Society. He belongs to the River Valley Study Club and the Synergy Study Club; both are organizations in
which local area dentists get together to discuss treatments and become further educated on
various procedures and technologies.
Dr .Allen resides in Waterford.
Drew Lawhorne D.D.S
Coming to us from Virginia via New Jersey, Dr. Drew Lawhorne grew up in central Virginia in the town of Lynchburg, with his parents and older brother. His childhood consisted mainly of playing sports (swimming, soccer, tennis) and focusing on his studies. His family still resides there, where his parents are both retired and his brother works in the area.
Dr. Lawhorne earned his undergraduate degree in 2005 from the prestigious liberal arts institute Washington & Lee University, which is located in Lexington, VA. He majored in biology, and focused on pre-dental and botany. Upon graduation, he moved to Richmond, VA, to attend the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry (formerly the Medical College of Virginia), and graduated in 2009. He then moved to the northern Jersey shore, where he completed a one year hospital-based general dentistry residency at the Monmouth Medical Center.
Dr. Lawhorne currently lives in Groton with his two cats, Niko and Copper. He has a girlfriend who is a pediatric resident in New Jersey. Dr. Lawhorne enjoys cooking, visiting friends around the country, music, movies, working out, and being outdoors. He is also an avid Manchester United supporter.
